Metalstep and Briddim: Best Heavy Crossovers 2026
Metalstep and briddim are plain-language crossovers, not a chart we keep. In 2026 the documented heavy end is Svdden Death and Lost Lands sets like Sullivan King b2b Ray Volpe.
Table of contents
Metalstep and briddim get used online as shorthand for heavy crossovers: metal riffs inside a bass drop, or a bridge between riddim’s half-time grid and heavier festival dubstep. This magazine does not keep a separate metalstep chart. There is no verified 2026 canon of tracks in this brief. The useful page is a definition, two documented heavy anchors, and a dig path. A title that says “best” still gets a dated method when the facts stop short of a list.
Plain definitions, not a ranking
Deathstep describes a dark, aggressive branch of dubstep. Code: Pandorum is active: Bleeding Dahlia was released on 5 June 2026 by Crowsnest Audio. The earlier switch to INHUMAN does not establish that the Code: Pandorum project is over today.
Do not expect Beatport’s Dubstep top 100 to sort them cleanly. That chart measures shop sales and already mixes riddim, melodic bass, and festival dubstep in one bucket (Beatport Dubstep top 100). It misses SoundCloud-only dubs. SoundCloud remains where unfinished heavy dubs and one-off crossovers land first (dubstep mix search, riddim mix search). Never Say Die Vol. 7 (5 June 2026 on Beatport) credits a long heavy roster including Zomboy, Eptic, LAXX, Habstrakt, IVORY, Space Laces, SampliFire, MUST DIE!, Svdden Death, and many others. That is a compilation credit list, not a metalstep ranking.
The heavy end we actually filed
Svdden Death is the artist-of-the-month page for March 2026: /artistes-dubstep/artiste-du-mois-mars-2026-svdden-death/. That is the magazine’s own heavy-end bookmark for the year so far, not a metalstep award. Eptic’s May month page and Virtual Riot’s April page sit in the same festival-weight neighbourhood if you are mapping 2026 names this site already filed.
Lost Lands 2026 (18–20 September, Legend Valley, Thornville, Ohio) is the live peak in our sources. Ninth edition, founded 2017. EDM.com’s review names Sullivan King b2b Ray Volpe among the special sets, alongside Subtronics b2b LEVEL UP (Leveltronics), ALLEYCVT b2b Crankdat (ALLDAT), Eptic b2b LYNY, INFEKT b2b Samplifire, Adventure Club throwback, and FuntCase b2b Doctor P. Sullivan King and Ray Volpe also appear in the broader named bill with Wooli, ATLiens, Space Laces, Zomboy, Borgore, and others. Those credits are the documented heavy crossover energy on that weekend. They are not a tracklist of “best metalstep songs 2026.”
Excision is booked for three sets: Friday two-hour solo close, Sunday Detox (downtempo), Sunday b2b Space Laces. DJ Mag reported that storms cancelled the final Sunday slots. The Excision b2b Space Laces scheduled 9:40–11pm went ahead before that second evacuation. Our September piece also records Excision and his wife Emma announcing they are expecting a girl during one of his sets. Couch Lands is the festival livestream; we do not publish a stable VOD url list. Search the set on YouTube and prefer the festival’s own channel once the VOD is up.
How to dig without a fake top 10
Prefer continuous mixes and full sets over thirty-second cut compilations. Prefer an artist’s own upload or the festival VOD path once Couch Lands material is online. For IDs after a festival, Shazam fails on unreleased dubs because there is no store fingerprint. What works in practice: film a few seconds and the MC if there is one, note the time in the set, check the artist’s comments and tracklist post the next day, search a distinctive vocal sample in quotes, and ask in the artist’s own comments rather than a random ID group that guesses.
If you want tearout language rather than metal crossover language, stay on the Lost Lands heavy sets and the Svdden Death month page. If you want OG riddim instead of chaos, open trench on the explainer and /news/riddim-vs-trench-vs-tearout-2026/. YouTube searches for UKF Dubstep and DubstepGutter still work as promo doors without inventing subscriber math. The rest of the crossover pile is still a SoundCloud dig.

The official Lost Lands site now features Excision’s two-hour 2026 solo set. For other replays, check festival and artist uploads: a performed set does not guarantee an available recording.
